POCARI Sweat found itself in familiar territory, staring at a 0-1 deficit in a best-of-three series, this time in the Shakey's V-League Season 13 Open Conference Finals against Air Force. And they're fully confident they can do a repeat of the semis comeback feat to come away with the crown.
Pocari Sweat suffered a Game One collapse after the Jet Spikers pulled off a come-from-behind win, 17-25, 25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 15-11, on Wednesday.
But for Lady Warriors coach Rommel Abella, they've been through this before, so they know how to get out of this bind, starting with Game Two on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
In the semifinals, Pocari sweat dropped the series-opener against Bali Purebefore they turned the tables to their favor and advanced to the Finals.
“Hopefully ‘yung result sa Game Two same sa naging result sa semis,” he said.
Abella, however, noted that Air Force is different from Bali Pure in the sense that the Jet Spikers display solid teamwork rather than relying on certain stars.
“Sabi ko sa kanila noong semis tayo, ang Bali Pure is made of superstars eh, kami team kami na lumaban noong semis. Ngayon dalawa kaming team na naglalaban,” said Abella.
“(Sa Game One) naipakita ng Air Force na mas buo sila kasi mas matagal na silang naglalaro at ‘yun ang kailangan naming ma-overcome on Saturday,” he added.
Abella will again bank on best opposite spiker Michele Gumabao, second best outside spiker Myla Pablo and Elaine Kasilag to take care of the offense, while Desiree Dadang will man the net and libero Mel Gohing will again clean the floor with her digs and first ball reception.
