THE Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) reiterated its recurring call to the PVL to align its season with the FIVB calendar as it rejected the pro league's request to extend the registered 2024-25 season to October 15.

“Upon careful review of FIVB Sports Regulations, version as of April 11 2025, the PNVF shall be unable to endorse or accept the proposal to extend the registered season,” the PNVF said in a letter to the PVL dated June 23.
In addition, the PNVF also turned down the league’s move to allow its teams to secure International Transfer Certificates (ITC) which would validate the continued participation of Fil-foreign players like Brooke Van Sickle, Savi Davison, MJ Phillips and Tia Andaya, among others in the PVL on Tour offseason tournaments.
Scheduling conflicts
As previously explained by Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito to SPIN.ph, the FIVB’s official national team period runs from May 16 to October 15.
However, last year the PVL was allowed to stage its Reinforced and Invitational Conferences during the national team period on the condition that Alas Pilipinas players do not see action with their mother teams.

However, the PNVF insisted that national team players are prohibited from participating in either club competitions or college leagues with their mother teams to avoid scheduling conflicts for national team players.
The PNVF quoted 6.1.1.b under General Principles of the FIVB rules: “The National Team period is from 16 May to 15 October. During this time, national team competitions shall have priority in the calendar. National Leagues and Confederation club competitions may operate during this time only subject to the approval of the FIVB.
It added: “While we recognize the value of PVL’s intent to promote the league, and the sport, by bringing the matches to various regions of the country, it is essential to observe the National Team Period vis-à-vis the Club Season.”
