KIANNA Dy made her long-awaited return in PLDT’s 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 win over Cignal in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
While Dy had a scoreless Set 3 cameo, it was Savi Davison who did the heavy-lifting on offense with 24 points on 22 attacks and two blocks.
The league-leading Fil-Canadian spiker also made it a triple-double with 12 digs and 10 receptions.
This time, Davison wasn't alone in steering the PLDT offense as Erika Santos and middle blocker Majoy Baron also hit double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The High Speed Hitters rise to 5-3, becoming the sixth team to hit the five-win mark.
Cignal absorbed only its second loss of the conference, sliding to 5-2, with Vanie Gandler's 22 points and rookie Ishie Lalongisip's 12-point, 14-dig double-double going for naught.
Help is on the way for High Speed Hitters
Davison not taking the scoring brunt by herself against a title-contending Cignal side was PLDT's most important takeaway.
To cement the High Speed Hitters' title-contending status, it'll come down to how much longer they can keep such a well-distributed offense afloat as the preliminary round comes to a close.
"I think we're relying more on other people. The coaches are doing a really good job in trying to shuffle in those people and seeing how they take that opportunity," said Davison.
"We're just looking for that extra person. Hopefully, we get all the help. Overall, the girls are working twice as hard in the gym. We're just trying to get to a point where all of our rotations are productive at some point," she added.
"That's the goal for now, especially up against some harder teams."
