SINCE joining the PVL in 2023, Savi Davison has been tagged as the one and only scoring machine that kept PLDT chugging along.
Her 296-point single-season output in the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference was the most by any local player in the league’s eight-year history.
This time, that heavy lifting is all in the past.

With the likes of Kianna Dy, Jovy Prado, and Majoy Baron doing their part for the High Speed Hitters’ offense, the Fil-Canadian winger is no longer stranded on a deserted island in pumping life to their scoring front.
Yes, Davison erupted for 34 points in PLDT’s five-set semifinals win over Creamline to reach the 2025 On Tour finals.
However, the remaining five players in the scoresheets in Dy, Prado, Baron, Mika Reyes, and Kim Fajardo combined for 41 points.
While numbers and optics say otherwise at times, Davison admits she never once thought she was forced to carry the brunt of offense for the first-time finalists.
It’s just that things have taken a turn for the better for this version of the High Speed Hitters.
“I think I've always felt supported. It's not so much that I didn't feel like anybody was supporting me. Now that there's people firing from all cylinders across the net, and that's really hard to defend, it makes my job a little easier because it opens up some space for me, right?" she said.
“At the same time, I open up some space for them, so it's a give and take, and I'm just glad that we complement each other.”
Absence makes the heart grow fonder for Savi
Further proof was the fact that PLDT did not lose a single game during Davison’s extended break even as the preseason tournament already started.
Sure, the 26-year-old spiker remains the team’s scoring centerpiece. But when the High Speed Hitters are collectively at their best, they still get wins with Davison not having to walk alone.
“For me, pressure's still a privilege. I tried to perform better when there's a lot of pressure. That's just my job," she said.
“I want to be in that role, so I'm just glad it transpired the way it did, and I'm glad it was in the fifth set.”
