SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — PLDT is finally picking up speed in the PVL 10 All-Filipino Conference Siklab series.
After stumbling through consecutive losses to commence its campaign, the High Speed Hitters recovered with back-to-back wins, the latest a 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 rout of ZUS Coffee during the league’s historic first visit here on Thursday.
PLDT has made a habit of saving its best for last, trading blows with the Thunderbelles before shifting into high gear in the closing stretches of the first two sets.
The High Speed Hitters closed the opener with a 6-2 finishing run, followed by a 6-1 burst in the second set, before racing to a seven-point lead early in the third to seal the sweep.
The victory also pushed PLDT into a four-way tie for fourth at 2-2 with Farm Fresh, Akari, and Capital1, putting its early-season struggles firmly in the rearview mirror.
PLDT now connected
Savi Davison anchored the attack with 13 points and nine receptions in just 84 minutes of action, while Kianna Dy delivered the finishing touch with her eighth and final point.
“We didn’t start the conference well, pero hopefully, tuloy-tuloy na 'yung momentum namin coming from our two wins,” Dy said.

Dell Palomata also made her presence felt at the net, tallying four blocks to finish with six points.
The High Speed Hitters have found their footing even without head coach Rald Ricafort, who remains under the weather and missed the team's trip up north, with deputy coach Arnold Laniog stepping in admirably.
On the other hand, ZUS Coffee continues to search for answers after another setback.
Despite taking its last two opponents in Creamline and Capital1 to four and five sets, respectively, the Thunderbelles have been unable to break through, absorbing their fourth consecutive defeat to remain winless alongside Galeries Tower.
It had no player in double-digits, with rookie Nicole Ong leading the way with nine points. Alyssa Eroa, however, put in the work on floor defense, recording 11 digs and 10 receptions.
