THE PLDT High Speed Hitters stayed unbeaten after a hard-earned victory over the Akari Chargers, 25-22, 25-27, 25-21, 25-15, in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan City.
Savi Davison led from the fronton offense while Kath Arado anchored PLDT’s defense with 26 excellent digs and 10 receptions as PLDT improved to 3-0 (win-loss), joining NXLed at the top of the standings.

The Chargers dropped their third straight match.
“Niremind lang dun sa system na nira-run namin na kailangan talaga maraming variety sa attacks. At the same time, nag-adjust kami sa ginagawa ng middles and wings ng Akari,” said head coach Rald Ricafolt.
“Kailangan lang ng patience para mairaos hanggang sa endgame,” he added.
Savi Davison led the PLDT scoring barrage with 18 points, coming from 16 attacks and two blocks, while Majoy Baron and Kim Dy added 14 markers each.
Gretchel Soltones paced Akari with 16 points, supported by Ivy Lacsina and Ced Domingo with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The High Speed Hitters seized control early, with Davison leading the offense and contributing key points, including the set-ending off-the-block attack in the first frame.
Akari found its rhythm in the second set behind Mary Rhose Dapol, who spearheaded the comeback with a performance capped by the cross-court hit that closed out the set after a Fifi Sharma block.
PLDT regained momentum in the third set, taking advantage of Akari’s unforced errors to claim a 25-21 win before closing out the match in emphatic fashion.
PLDT will aim for win No. 4 when it faces Cignal while Akari looks for a breakthrough against sister team Nxled on February 24 in the same venue.
