PLDT finished its PVL on Tour campaign unbeaten, outlasting Akari, 25-14, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, in the preseason caravan’s penultimate stop in Lanao del Norte.
The High Speed Hitters went 2-0 in the tour after their scheduled second game against ZUS Coffee in Santiago City was scrapped due to inclement weather.

They had earlier opened their campaign with a win over Choco Mucho in Vigan City.
Savi Davison came a dig shy of a triple-double, leading all scorers with 22 points while adding 13 receptions and nine digs.
That left PLDT with a P200,000 pot money haul from its two-game stint, completing a perfect preseason run despite playing one fewer match than originally scheduled.
The unbeaten finish also mirrors PLDT’s run in last year’s PVL on Tour, when it won all eight of its games en route to the preseason title and its first franchise championship.
Akari, meanwhile, ended its three-game campaign with a 1-2 record. The Chargers opened with a loss to ZUS Coffee in Ilagan before answering with a victory over Choco Mucho in Polomolok.
The Chargers likewise took home P200,000 in pot money after closing out their preseason tour.
On speed dial
PLDT went on an 8-1 run to close out what started as a tight opening set, setting the tone for the High Speed Hitters’ eventual four-set victory.
Akari controlled most of the second set and earned two set points, but Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy teamed up to erase both before Davison gave PLDT set point of its own. Eli Soyud then sent an attack long, handing PLDT the set as Akari had already exhausted its challenges and could not contest the costly error.
The Chargers responded with a convincing third-set win to keep their reverse-sweep hopes alive, but PLDT quickly slammed the door shut in the fourth, sealing the victory on a setting error by Joyme Cagande.
Faith Nisperos paced Akari with 12 points and six digs, while Ivy Lacsina chipped in seven points and 12 receptions.
