FIL-CANADIAN Savi Davison saved the best for last as PLDT ended its PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference campaign on a winning note against Petro Gazz, 16-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 15-7, at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday.
In a virtual battle for 5th place, Davison put on an explosive performance of 29 points built off of 26 attacks and three blocks as the High Speed Hitters pulled off the comeback in thrilling fashion.
PLDT finished the conference at 7-4.
PLDT went down two sets to one and the Angels were threaning, 14-17, after a KC Galdones running attack. But Petro Gazz kept shooting themselves in the foot with their errors, giving away five points to the High Speed Hitters as part of an 8-1 run that enabled the High Speed Hitters to force the decider.
As momentum shifted, Davison rallied the High Speed Hitters in the fifth set as they pulled away to an 8-1 run to cap the year on a winning note.
“It's a big win for us, especially coming to the end of our season. I think we went into it wanting to end up on a good note.” Davison said.
“So I'm really happy that you know, we got that 7-4 end to our season. And it just makes us that much more excited to come back in the next conference.” she added.
Jules Samonte and Fiola Ceballos provided the support for Davison with 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
Jonah Sabete and Marian Buitre provided the offense for the Angels with 17 and 14 points.
Petro Gazz ends the conference in 6th place with their 6-5 slate.
