PLDT’s grip on Creamline refused to loosen.

The High Speed Hitters delivered a statement 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 sweep of the 10-time PVL champions to open their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign on Thursday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.

Guided by the scoring brilliance of Savi Davison, PLDT extended the league’s only active winning streak against Creamline to five straight games. That masterful run has now spanned two years, two months and 19 days, or 811 days to be exact.

Fresh off an MVP campaign and two PVL titles last year, Savi Davison picked up right where she left off, erupting for 13 of her 25 points in the opening set alone as the High Speed Hitters’ offense proved too much to handle.

Not even the return of Creamline’s champion quartet of Jia de Guzman, Bernadeth Pons, Jema Galanza and Dij Rodriguez could rattle a well-oiled PLDT side that, save for Seth Rodriguez stepping in for Dell Palomata, remained largely intact from its title-winning core.

Davison rounded out the first triple-double of the conference with 11 digs and 10 receptions.

“I’ve been working a lot on patience and waiting all week and not trying to come out strong because Creamline and their fans can always make it really hard to play against them,” Davison said.

“I’m just glad that we were able to keep calm and stick to our game plan throughout the match.”

Kianna Dy provided steady support for the explosive Fil-Canadian with nine points, while Jovy Prado chipped in seven markers and four receptions to round out a balanced PLDT attack.

The Cool Smashers may have finally fielded a full-strength lineup, but their trademark sharpness has yet to resurface.

Pons marked her return to indoor volleyball with an all-around showing, finishing with 13 points, 11 digs and 10 receptions.

Tots Carlos also reached double figures with 11 points and eight digs.

After a 922-day wait to step back on a PVL court, de Guzman logged 12 excellent sets.

However, Creamline’s usual go-to weapons were largely kept in check. Team captain Alyssa Valdez was held to five points, while Galanza added four in her return.

Michele Gumabao, meanwhile, was limited to just three markers.
