TOP-ranked PLDT and Philippine Army try to secure a semifinals berth in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference as they take on separate opponents Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Power Attackers face Philippine Air Force in the opener at 2 p.m., while the Lady Troopers battle National University in the main game at 4 p.m.
PLDT and Army hold identical records of 5-2.
A win by the Power Attackers and Lady Troopers will give them outright berths to the semis.
Army carries an even 4-4 card while NU has a 1-6 slate.
Meanwhile, Ateneo takes on Cagayan Valley in the final match at 6 p.m., with the Lady Eagles looking to keep their chances of earning a semifinals slot.
The Lady Eagles, who scored a five-setter win against Air Force, 25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-9, on Thursday, will again rely on league top scorer Alyssa Valdez.
Ateneo is currently at fifth spot with a 2-5 slate.
But Valdez is not looking too far ahead as she wants her team to focus on one opponent at a time.
“One game at a time lang,” said the 21-year-old Ateneo skipper. "Focus muna kami sa Cagayan, isa-isa lang."
After Cagayan, Ateneo ends its quarterfinals campaign against Army and NU.
