PETRO Gazz vented its ire on BaliPure, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, to earn its first win in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Following a four-set loss to BanKo in last week’s opener, the Angels made sure to overcome their championship hangover from Reinforced Conference as they sent the Water Defenders to their 12th straight defeat.
Jeanette Panaga stepped up for Petro Gazz with game-high 16 points built on 12 attacks, three blocks and an ace.
Angels head coach Arnold Laniog was glad that his wards finally embraced their respective roles with Panaga in leading the collective effort.
“Coming from last conference alam na nila role nila na support lang sa two imports,” Laniog said. “This time, we need someone na kayang mag deliver sa mga crucial situations. Ngayon kung kaya lahat gagawa, better.”

Paneng Mercado nailed eight kills for nine points. Jonah Sabete added seven markers. Setter Djanel Cheng paced her spikers with 17 excellent sets on top of five points, while libero Cienne Cruz had 19 digs and 10 excellent receptions.
Petro Gazz improved to 1-1 win-loss record before renewing its rivalry with Creamline (2-0) next Saturday.
