PETRO Gazz completed the Final Four cast in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, while keeping Adamson-Akari winless, 25-21, 25-9, 25-15, on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Jessey de Leon finished with 14 points, while Cherry Nunag added 14 and Alyssa Layug had 11 markers for the Angels, who improved to 8-5 to settle for the No. 4 spot.
Petro Gazz joined BanKo (10-3), Ateneo-Motolite (10-4) and Creamline (9-3) in the semifinals.
The work, however, is not yet done for the Angels, who will face the Cool Smashers on Wednesday to end the elimination round.
"Trabaho pa rin kasi ‘yung tatlo mabibigat naman (na kalaban ‘yun) and then may Creamline pa so let’s see, laro lang and condition lang ng bata ang priority namin," said Petro Gazz coach Jerry Yee.
"Kumbaga (focus kami sa) execution namin, sa sarili namin, kasi no bearing na ‘yun for us. Try natin ilabas ang laro (ng Creamline) at least mabasa natin kung sakaling magkita ulit (sa semis)," he added.
The result also showed idle Pocari Sweat (6-7) the way out of Final Four contention.
Petro Gazz doubled Adamson-Akari's output in spikes (46-22) in the match that took an hour and 17 minutes to finish.
Trisha Genesis made six points for Adamson-Akari, which remained winless in 12 outings.
