PETRO Gazz mainstay Nicole Tiamzon is embracing the thrill of playing under a foreign coach for the first time, calling the experience ’exciting yet challenging.’

The team's new coach is Koji Tsuzurabara from Japan, a country with a rich volleyball tradition. She mentioned that the mentor has introduced a fresh approach to playing the sport.
The early results seem to prove his system is working after the team posted what it called a victorious preseason.
"He’s gonna push you and yung experience niya, thankful tayo dun na ma-share din niya sa team," Tiamzon said. She added that the Japanese coach's style is challenging because "we're not used to this kind of system."
Hunters, not hunted
Tiamzon said Tsuzurabara’s style is to stop you from being overconfident and to make you approach the game as if you are always the underdog, "challengers" as the coach termed it.
“‘Yung natutunan ko din talaga kay coach (Koji) is ‘yung mindset na lagi kaming challengers,” Tiamzon said.
“So we will prepare, train and train, and siyempre pag-aaralan pa rin namin ‘yung kalaban kahit sino pa ‘yung makakalaban namin.”
Overall, she said, "It’s good din to learn from a foreign coach."
