PETRO Gazz sent Air Force crashing out of semifinal contention in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 3 Open Conference with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-14 victory on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
After a pair of losses to Motolite and Creamline, the Angels finally returned to their winning ways to oust the Lady Jet Spikers in just 75 minutes and seal their place in the Final Four.
Jonah Sabete scored 15 points, all coming from spikes on an attack rate of 57.7 percent as Petro Gazz tightened its grip on the No. 2 spot with a 10-4 win-loss record.
Besides Sabete, Jovie Prado scored on eight attacks and three service aces for 11 points, while Cherry Nunag, Jeanette Panaga and Cai Baloaloa contributed seven markers each.
“Siyempre happy, masarap sa pakiramdam especially na-cut ulit namin yung losing streak namin,” said Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog.
“With this win, nakabalik na ulit kami. Hopefully, magtuluy-tuloy.”
The Angels’ victory also enabled idle Motolite to secure a semifinal place, completing the Final Four cast.
No Lady Jet Spiker scored in double figures as leader Dell Palomata was held to only three markers. Jozza Mae Cabalsa led the way with eight points.
Air Force slid to 6-8 card in a tie with Pacifictown-Army.
