RED-HOT Petro Gazz made quick work of hapless Chef’s Classics, 25-21, 25-14, 25-12, for its seventh straight victory in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Angels continued to wax hot in the tournament as they beat the Lady Red Spikers in just 72 minutes to tighten their grip of the solo second place with an impressive 8-2 win-loss record.
Jonah Sabete led the charge with 12 points off nine kills and three aces laced with 12 digs, while Jovielyn Prado fired six attacks and four aces for 10 markers.
Cherry Nunag and Jeanette Panaga took care of the net defense finishing 10 and eight points, respectively, while Cienne Cruz had 12 digs and seven excellent receptions.
“Sinabi ko rin sa mga players na, talagang alam naman natin na kaya namin manalo, pero hinahanap talaga namin ay quality ng laro,” said Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog. “Tinitingnan pa rin talaga namin 'yung consistent ng laro namin, at the same time, at kaya naming mapangalagaan 'yung number two spot talaga all the way, better talaga.”
The Lady Red Spikers didn’t score a single ace against the Angels’ eight aces. They also got outmuscled in attacking with a 21-38 differential and in blocking, 3-10.
Viray led Chef’s Classics with seven markers as they remained winless in 14 outings.
