PETRO Gazz moved one step closer to the semifinals after an emphatic win over Cignal, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17 in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Djanel Cheng stepped on the gas for the Angels with 12 excellent sets as they moved on the verge of making it back to the semifinals following a two-conference absence.

Petro Gazz took a provisional share of second place with defending champion Creamline at 7-2 (win-loss). Meanwhile, a third loss in their last four matches sent the HD Spikers on the cusp of elimination with a 5-4 card.
"Masaya po kaming lahat mas lumiliminaw yung daan (papunta) sa semis pero hindi pa rin naman tapos 'yung eliminations kaya 'di parin kami pwedeng magrelax or magbanjing banjing na lang," said Petro Gazz skipper Remy Palma with eight markers in the win.
"Kailangan po naming matapos nang maayos 'yung eliminations and after nu'n, tignan natin kung saan kami abutin."
With major semifinals implications, the Angels took charge early and took over all the way to the end through 29 combined points from their one-two scoring punch in Jonah Sabete and Brooke Van Sickle.
Petro Gazz also managed to keep it clean with just 11 total errors in the one-hour, 39 minute contest topped by nine blocks and seven service aces.
It was a completely different story for the HD Spikers as no player reached double figures in a rare off-night for their ace attackers Ces Molina (eight points) and Vanie Gandler (eight points). Moreover, just three blocks and three aces couldn't make up for Cignal's 17 unforced errors.
The second-seed Angels can close in on a semifinals spot by winning their last two matches against Galeries Tower and Nxled, while the HD Spikers are out to save themselves from missing out on the top four versus semis-seeking PLDT and Capital1.
