    Sabete, Nunag star as Petro Gazz nips Choco Mucho for third straight win

    PETRO Gazz outlasted Choco Mucho, 25-22, 25-15, 19-25, 20-25, 15-3, for its third straight victory in the PVL Open Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

    It was the Angels’ fourth win in six matches, staying within striking distance of the leaders.

    Creamline leads with a 6-0 win-loss record followed by Motolite at 4-1.

    “Malaking bagay ang naging composure namin sa fifth set,” said Petro Gazz coach Arnold Laniog.

    “Mahirap din kalaban ang ChocoMucho kasi malalaki rin talaga and they have legitimate percentage spiker na si (Kat) Tolentino.”

    Jonah Sabete led Petro Gazz’s balanced attack with 15 points on top of 14 excellent receptions. Cherry Nunag had 14 points, Jovielyn Prado Prado and Cai Baloaloa chipped in 11 points apiece, while Jeanette Panaga had six blocks for 10 markers.

    Cienne Cruz made 20 digs and 16 excellent receptions, while Djanel Cheng dished out 26 excellent sets.

    Kat Tolentino led Choco Mucho with 24 points, while Maddie Madayag had seven attacks and four blocks for 11 points.

    The Flying Titans suffered their third straight loss for a 2-4 record.
