PETRO Gazz overcame Pacifictown-Army, 25-15, 20-25, 14-25, 25-13, 15-7, to extend its winning run to eight in the PVL Open Conference on Saturday at the University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.
Jovielyn Prado scored 14 points and made 11 digs and nine excellent receptions as the Angels tightened their grip on second spot with a 9-2 win-loss record.
Cherry Nunag had 13 points, Kai Baloaloa scored 12, Jonah Sabete added 11 points, while Jeanette Panaga had 10 markers.
It was a bg win for Petro Gazz, as outside hitter Paneng Mercado skipped the match due to personal matters, while Klarisa Abriam attended class at College of St. Benilde.
The Angels’ victory also allowed Creamline to secure the first semifinal berth. Creamline, unbeaten in 11 matches, was playing sister team Choco Mucho at posting time.
Royse Tubino scored 21 points, while Jovelyn Gonzaga, who arrived on Friday night after playing for the Philippine women’s volleyball team against Vietnam in the Asean Grand Prix in Sta. Rosa Laguna, was limited to eight markers.
Pacifictown-Army dropped to 6-6.
