PETROGAZZ eyes a first-round sweep as it battles Pacifictown Army in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.

The Angels, with a 4-0 record, take on the Lady Troopers, who hold a 2-1 win-loss card, at 2 p.m.

Creamline, also with a 2-1 record, battle winless Motolite at 4 p.m.

With Wilma Salas and Janisa Johnson showing the way, PetroGazz have not lost one set.

Coach Arnold Laniog hopes the Angels can sustain the strong play, and hope to also get consistent performances from Jeanette Panaga, Cherry Nunag and Jonah Sabete.

“Actually malaking bagay talaga na sa first round mamuhunan,” Laniog said. “As much as makakuha kami ng panalo ngayong first round, better, para may puhunan.”

The Lady Troopers, meanwhile, lean on Ukrainian Lena Lymareva-Flink, American Jenelle Jordan and local stars Jovelyn Gonzaga, Royse Tubino, Nene Bautista and Ging Balse-Pabayo as they try to close in on the leader.

Meanwhile, Thai head coach Tai Bundit is back to call the shots for Creamline as it faces Motolite.

The Cool Smashers fired Chinese coach Huanning Li after the opening loss and scored back-to-back wins under assistant coach Ed Ortega.

Thai Kuttika Kaewpin, Venezuelan Ale Blanco, Alyssa Valdez, Michel Gumabao, Risa Sato, setter Jia Morado and libero Mel Gohing are gunning for their third straight win.

Motolite, who shares the bottom with BaliPure at 0-3, tries to finally score its first win as Air Padda pins its hopes on Trinidad and Tobago’s Channon Thompson and Krystel Esdelle, Isa Molde, Tots Carlos, Eli Soyud and Ayel Estranero.
