PETRO Gazz cruised to its sixth straight victory as it took down BanKo, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22, in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Angels leaned on their four players who scored in double figures to avenge their first round loss to the Perlas Spikers winning in just an hour and 20 minutes.
Jovielyn Prado and Jeanette Panaga led the collective effort with 12 points each. Cherry Nunag delivered 11 points off seven kills, three blocks and an ace, while Jonah Sabete put up 10 markers, 13 digs and 13 excellent receptions.
Veteran setter Chie Saet paced her spikers with 17 excellent sets on top of three markers, while libero Cienne Cruz had 17 digs and 14 receptions.
Petro Gazz climbed to the second place with an improved 7-2 win-loss record behind unbeaten leader Creamline Cool Smashers (10-0).
“Talagang yung trip sa Taiwan ang pinakamalaking impact talaga. Hindi naging maganda ang result sa tournament pero ang effect sa team sobrang ganda talaga,” said Angels head coach Arnold Laniog despite the winless stint in the 2019 Taichung Bank International Women’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament last week.
“Yung bonding and system na na-adapt namin doon naa-apply namin talaga. Mahaba-haba pa naman itong liga na ito, we have seven games pa. Hopefully, mas mapulido pa in the future,” Laniog added.
Dzi Gervacio was the lone bright spot for BanKo finishing with 13 points as they absorbed their second straight loss and dropped to fifth place with a 6-5 card.
