PETRO Gazz made quick work of also-ran BaliPure, 25-20, 25-11, 25-16, to seal the second seed of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Angels, once again, banked on to wing spikers Jonah Sabete and Jovie Prado to dispatch the Water Defenders in just 69 minutes and solidify their hold of the No.2 spot with an improved 11-4 win-loss record before heading into the semifinals.
Prado had eight kills, three aces and a block for 12 points laced with 10 digs and nine excellent receptions. Sabete also finished with 12 markers including nine digs and six receptions, while Jeanette Panaga and Cai Baloaloa added eight and seven points, respectively.
“Alam namin na non-bearing na sa kalaban but sa amin crucial. So sabi ko yung percentage na manalo is mataas for us but yung quality pa rin talaga yung hinahanap ko,” said Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog.
The Angels dominated the Water Defenders in all scoring departments with a lopsided differential in attacking, 39-25, in blocking (8-2) and 8-1 advantage in aces.
“Nagstart yan sa training na pukpukin na talaga namin kasi papunta na kami sa end part ng tournament na ito. So the more na pinupukpok natin yung sarili natin, the more na magiging effective sa game lalo na sa mga crucial,” Laniog said.
No one from BaliPure scored in double figures with Menchie Tubiera leading the way with nine points as her squad finished the conference at eighth place with 4-12 record.
