THAI reinforcement Patcharee Sangmuang and Adamson mainstay Mylene Paat showed the way, while two backups came up with fine performances as the Lady Falcons whipped the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers, 25-9, 25-19, 27-25, on Sunday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Sangmuang and Paat came up with 10 points each as the Lady Falcons scored their fourth win in five matches despite Bhebs Pineda and Pau Soriano playing limited minutes.
Jessica Galanza came off the bench to score nine points, while second setter Fenela Emnas grabbed the spotlight by scoring six and coming up with 17 of Adamson’s 27 excellent sets.
Pineda scored just three points and Soriano five before being pulled in the first set. The rest of the Lady Falcons handled the job well, finishing the match in an hour and 19 minutes.
“Sinubukan na namin ’yung mga maglalaro sa UAAP kasi malaking experience yung Shakey’s V-League, eh. Para ma-experience nila ’yung mga crowd,” said Adamson coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Nag step up si Emnas at saka si Galanza ok naman yung ginalaw niya, sa mga next tournament namin sila na talaga ang maglalaro eh,” he added.
Adamson matched the 4-1 cards of Ateneo and Arellano, but the Lady Falcons have the lowest quotient and took third spot in their group. The Lady Eagles are on top and the Lady Chiefs in second place.
“No. 3 kami (sa standings) kasi mababa ang points namin,” said Meneses. “Pero ok lang ganoon talaga, importante nasa quarterfinals kami.”
“Sayang lang ’yung incentives, kasi quotient system kasi,” he added. “Pero ok lang, basta every game all out ang mga players.”
Therese Veronas scored 10 to lead St. Benilde, which holds a 2-3 win-loss card but will also advance to the quarterfinals.
