PACIFIC Town Army snapped a three-match losing streak in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, defeating Chef’s Classics, 25-18, 25-18, 25-13, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Royse Tubino and Jovelyn Gonzaga combined for 22 points as the Lady Troopers improved their win-loss record to 3-3 for fifth spot.
“Syempre na-relieve ng konti kasi ‘yung three-game losing streak namin very uncharacteristic nga,” said Army coach Kungfu Reyes, pleased to get a quick win after tough matches including one in Cagayan de Oro two weeks ago.
“Right after noong byahe namin ng malayo talagang nararamdaman ng mga player namin ‘yung fatigue,” he said. “Pero ano ‘yun loser’s alibi na lang ‘yun. Ngayon almost a week na nakakalipas nakakarecover na kami ng konti.”
“‘Yung mga previous games namin we’re losing by two points especially doon sa Creamline, considering na wala pa si Jia doon hindi pa rin namin nakuha. May missing factor, may missing link sa ginagawa namin,” he added.
PacificTown Army will face BaliPure on Wednesday and Air Force on Saturday to end the first round of elimination.
Reyes is hoping they can build a momentum for the second round.
“Kukunin na lang namin ‘yung huling dalawang laro namin para towards second round maganda ang standing namin,” he said.
Nieza Viray finished with six points for Chef’s Classics, which remained winless in six matches.
