MYLA Pablo delivered in the clutch, as Nxled turned back Farm Fresh in five sets, 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12, to remain unbeaten in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab series on Saturday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.
The Chameleons let a two-set advantage slip before regaining their footing in the decider, improving to 2-0, while handing the Foxies their first loss in two games.
Nxled’s blocking proved decisive, as it recorded 23 blocks to withstand the late surge from its opponent.
Brooke Van Sickle took charge for the Chameleons with 20 points and 16 excellent digs, while Pablo contributed 17 points. Jackie Acuña added 12, including seven blocks, and MJ Phillips chipped in 11, as Gel Cayuna orchestrated the attack with 31 excellent sets.
“I’m very tired,” Van Sickle said after the grueling match. “We have become predictable and really glad and happy for the team for digging big.”
Averted collapse
Farm Fresh opened the decider with a 2-0 lead, but Nxled rallied to take an 8-7 advantage at the changeover. Phillips broke a 9-all deadlock before a Ces Molina attack error widened the gap.
Pablo then scored three straight points to move the Chameleons within reach of victory. Royse Tubino briefly kept Farm Fresh alive, but Pablo ended the match with a block to deny the Foxies once and for all.
Molina led Farm Fresh with 16 points, while Mylene Rezanova added 12.
