WITH a new Premier Volleyball League (PVL) team under his guidance, will Oliver Almadro remain as Ateneo's head coach in the UAAP?
The move has inevitably raised questions about Almadro's tenure at Ateneo, considering he has left a Choco Mucho team with strong ties to the school and has in fact filled its lineup with current and former Blue Eagles.
After stepping down as Choco Mucho's head tactician last November, Almadro also cited in a statement his desire to direct his efforts on his duties and responsibilities with the Ateneo women's volleyball team.
Will that change now that he's with Petro Gazz?
League sources insist the move away from Choco Mucho or the transfer to Petro Gazz has no impact on Almadro's status as the Blue Eagles coach, saying the coach continues to enjoy the confidence of the school.
Even after his exit as Flying Titans coach, Almadro continued to regularly post photos of him with the Blue Eagles on social media - the most recent one on January 8.
Almadro, who steered the Ateneo men's volleyball team to three straight titles from UAAP Season 77 to 79, also brought success to the women's program in the Season 81 women's volleyball championship.
The Blue Eagles settled for a bronze finish in Season 84.
Around the same time last year, the Blue Eagles coach missed several games of Ateneo in the Shakey's Super League but returned just in time to steer Ateneo to its maiden V-League Collegiate Challenge Women's Championship.
