NXLED head coach Ettore Guidetti sees two key shortcomings in his team which mirrors what Philippine volleyball lacks.

With decades of coaching experience in the European volleyball scene, the 50-year-old Italian believes Filipino volleyball players — including his own Chameleons side — can overcome competitive gaps in the long run with more power and more size.
“Honestly, it's a connection between size of the players, compared to the international level, and power,” Guidetti told SPIN.ph.
“Right now, if a team has got a couple of players (who are) really powerful, they can score a big gap. We knew from the beginning that we (Nxled) are not in this situation.”

With just one win in nine PVL matches under his belt to date, Guidetti’s long-term game plan won’t just be centered on acquiring top players and available talents.
He deems it best for any team, club or national level, to develop one’s own pool of stars.
“We have to build players instead of buying players. That's what happens this year,” the Nxled coach said.
It doesn’t have to be a constellation of stars all the time for a team to shine at its brightest.
May it be for club or country, developing players who can be game-changers over time is vital to any team’s pursuit of success.
“I was talking of numbers before. We noticed that we were lacking about only two points (in most of our games so far),” said Guidetti.
“In volleyball, it's very sadistic because when you lose by two points, it is a tight loss. When you lose by about three points, it's a clear loss. And when you lose for four points, it's a big loss, and it's about four points.
“To have a kind of resolute player, a game-winner, a game-changer, can really change (a team). Day by day, we are building, hopefully, more than one.”
