IF Petro Gazz proceeds with disbandment, all of its remaining players will officially become free agents and may sign with any of the 10 other PVL teams, consistent with existing league precedent.
The lone modification to that framework, as clarified by league chairman Tony Boy Liao, is that the Angels' roster cannot be absorbed by Nxled as a single, intact unit.

“All players will be free agents once a team disbands, like what happened with Chery Tiggo,” Liao told SPIN.ph hours after confirming the league’s rejection of the proposed Nxled–Petro Gazz merger.
“They can be signed by any team, just not automatically with Nxled.”
While the PVL still intends to sit down with both franchises to formalize next steps, Liao and league president Ricky Palou have already aligned on governing principles.
Should Petro Gazz disband, Nxled will still be allowed to pursue Angels players individually through free agency.
In theory, the Chameleons could even sign all of Petro Gazz’ remaining players by then, provided each contract is negotiated separately and decided by player choice, not through a wholesale transfer.
“Yes, somewhat like that, kasi kung hindi, kawawa naman ‘yung ibang Petro [Gazz] players,” Liao explained.
Merger out of the question
The league’s decision to block the merger was anchored on preventing any structure that would combine both Petro Gazz and Nxled identities under a single team banner.
As Liao previously stressed, only one team name and franchise can survive if the other ceases operations.
In effect, while the spirit of the proposed merger could still materialize through free agency, if most or all Petro Gazz players independently choose Nxled, the branding and organizational merger itself cannot take effect.
As of writing, five Angels and six Chameleons have already parted ways with their respective teams, underscoring the scale of the ongoing offseason shakeup.
