BIÑAN CITY — Nicole Tiamzon scored on three-straight attacks that completed BanKo’s comeback from a two-set deficit to outlast Motolite,19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, 17-15, in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Sunday at the Alonte Sports Arena.
The Perlas Spikers were on the brink of losing the match as import Yasemin Yildirim committed a crucial net touch that put Motolite at match point, 14-12. But Sutadta Chuewulim scored and Yildirim made up for that error to extend the match.
Channon Thompson brought back Motolite at match point with a powerful hit but Tiamzon rose to the occasion with three straight spikes that kept BanKo’s semifinals hopes alive and broke its three-match skid.
“Kahit sabihin nating binuhat pero it’s a team work pa rin naman yun,” Tiamzon said. “Gumana lahat talagang nagbigay ng one hundred percent puso talaga during the fifth set.”
The former University of the Philippines star led the charge with 19 points on top of 15 digs as the Perlas Spikers regained the fourth place with a 3-5 win-loss record.
Kathy Bersola had 17 points for BanKo. Yildirim scored 16 and Chuewulim added 15 points.
Sue Roces added 13 markers, while Jem Ferrer dished out 27 excellent sets.
“I think we’re getting there naman. Mahirap naman talaga yung sunod sunod na talo lalo na mga top teams yung mga nakalaban namin,” Tiamzon said. “Hopefully magtuloy tuloy na lalo na yung last two games namin na napaka importante.”
Thompson had 30 points and made 19 excellent receptions and 11 digs, while Krystle Esdelle had 27 hits. Myla Pablo added 11 markers as Motolite dropped to 3-6 at fifth place.
