NATIONAL University made short work of La Salle-Dasmariñas, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17, at the start of the round-robin quarterfinals of the V-League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Myla Pablo and the Santiago sisters Dindin and Jaja scored nine points each for NU, which improved its win-loss record to 3-1.
Iumi Yongco and Mariebeth Lara made seven markers each for La Salle-Dasmariñas, which now holds a 1-3 card.
Coach Roger Gorayeb is back after missing the entire elimination round due to national duties, and he expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff for handling the team well.
“Ganda noong pagkaka-handle nila Edjet (Mabbayad) at ng coaching staff ko,” said Gorayeb. “Ayaw ko na ngang kunin sa kanila eh.”
But Gorayeb is far from satisfied.
“Ayusin na lang nila patterns, movement at syempre depensa,” he said. “Nakikita ko na mababa pa confidence level nila.”
