THE National University Lady Bulldogs and University of the Philippines Lady Maroons look to stay in semifinals contention as they take on also-ran teams on Monday in the V-League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Bulldogs are running fifth with a 2-3 win-loss record and need a win over Baguio to boost its bid for a playoff for the last spot in the semifinals.
NU is raring to atone for its sorry five-set loss to the Air Force Jet Spikers last week.
The Lady Bulldogs are heavily favored against the winless Baguio squad, and are looking to gain a share of fourth spot with Laoag (3-3).
The Lady Maroons are also trying to keep alive their slim hopes for a playoff. With a 1-3 card, UP could still force a playoff with a sweep of its last three matches.
UP faces Iriga at 4 p.m. on Monday, the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday and the Laoag Power smashers on the final elims playdate on June 27.
Pocari Sweat swept its first five matches and is safely in the semifinals, while surging BaliPure and Air Force are assured of a playoff for semis spots with 4-1 cards.

Laoag fueled its bid with a three-set romp over Baguio on Saturday and Pocari ousted Iriga with a four-set victory in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s and backed by Mikasa and Accel.
