MYLA Pablo seeks to complete unfinished business for Pocari Sweat-Air Force this Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference after a heartbreaking finish in the Reinforced Conference semifinals two months ago.

During the warm-ups of the do-or-die semifinals Game 3 between Pocari Sweat-Air Force and Creamline last July, Pablo aggravated her back injury, which sidelined her in the match that mattered most in their campaign as they lost to the Cool Smashers.

The two-time PVL Most Valuable Player still felt remorseful after that squandered chance but it’s her main motivation to bounce back and bring back the championship to the Pocari Sweat franchise, which last won a title in last year’s Reinforced Conference.

“Siguro nung Reinforced namin do-or-die game kasi namin yun so siyempre masakit for me na hindi ako nakalaro eh. Alam ko kailangan ako ng team ko,” the three-time Finals MVP said. and “Siguro motivation ko yun sa sarili ko na kailangan bumawi ako for (Open Conference), kailangan hindi lang pang semis lang, kailangan iangat going to the finals and yung championship makuha namin.”

But for now, the star outside spiker wants to focus on her recovery and take it one game at a time as the Lady Warriors only played three games — winning two of it against Tacloban and Iriga after their loss to Ateneo-Motolie — in a double-round robin elimination.

“More therapy pa rin ako. Everyday naman ako nagtetherapy before ako magpunta ng training kailangan okay yung likod ko sa bawat games ko pero ngayon di na sumasakit,” said Pablo, who scored 11 points in Pocari’s 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Iriga on Saturday at the Imus Sports Center.

“Siguro nung first game namin against Ateneo, siguro doon kami tumapang ba, I mean, doon namin nakita yung errors namin sa loob ng court kasi ang dami naming errors nun against Ateneo nung fourth set e. Sabi namin parang bawi na lang tayo sa other games kasi madami pa namang games yan hanggang December pa naman. So lahat ng mga errors namin kailangan ifocus sa training kung anong dapat nating gawin,” she added.

The back injury also barred Pablo from joining the women’s national volleyball team, which had fruitful stints in Asian Games 2018 Jakarta and AVC Asian Cup in Thailand.

Although the face of the Pocari Sweat franchise is still with the pool, Pablo said that there will be time for her to represent the country again. For now, she just wants to focus on the goal of the Lady Warriors and her recovery.

“Ako kasi more on therapy pa ako hindi pa ako pwedeng sumabak sa ganoong sitwasyon syempre may PVL ulit tapos national team,” Pablo said. “So di ko kayang pagsabayin lalo na maano pa yung likod ko so sabi ko kay coach Shaq (Delos Santos) parang (pagalinging) ko muna yung back ko bago ako sumabak for the national team.”
