MYLA Pablo will still sit out for Motolite on Sunday against Petro Gazz due to back muscle strain that she sustained weeks before Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference.
Pablo was in uniform but, surprisingly, didn’t see action as Motolite’s league debut was spoiled by Pacifictown-Army with a 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25 loss on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The reason? The skipper suffered a back injury in their training two weeks ago.
“Actually yung back ko uli. Siguro nabigla lang yung back ko kasi May 10 kami nagsimula ng training. So nabigla yung back ko,” Pablo said.
“Nung therapy ko kahapon, pwede naman ako magbola bola pero wala muna yung mga roll, yung mga dive kasi mahirap daw kasi pag nabigla lalong lalala,” she added.
Motolite head coach Air Padda said that they won’t risk Pablo’s health on Sunday against PetroGazz even they lost the opener.
“She’ll sit out tomorrow as well,” Padda said. “Myla has been dealing with a back injury for few weeks now. We’re just trying to maintain it and handle it the best that we can.”
Pablo understands the decision of her coach and she is patiently recovering from the injury.
“Uniform lang pero cheer-cheer lang tayo,” she said. “Hindi pa ko nakakapagtraining ulit sa totoo lang.”
The reigning MVP has been dealing with back spasms for the past two years but she said that this one is different.
“Hindi iba siya parang ano naman muscle (strain),” she said.
Pablo is still uncertain until Wednesday against BanKo but Padda said that her star spiker might return next weekend, where they play back-to-back matches against Creamline on Saturday and BaliPure on Sunday.
“The doctors say though, she should be back next weekend to play,” Padda said. “We’re looking forward to that but we’re just trying to deal with it the best that we can.”
