MALOLOS, BULACAN — Pocari Sweat-Air Force star Myla and younger sister Marites of Petro Gazz had mixed feelings after squaring off for the first time in their club careers in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference.
The Pablo sisters played together at National University in UAAP Season 78 during Myla's final playing year with the Lady Bulldogs and soon drifted apart as Marites transferred to College of Saint Benilde.
When the two crossed paths again on Wednesday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center, the elder Pablo had the upper hand as she scored 22 points to lead the Lady Warriors pastthe Angels in five sets, 25-20, 29-31, 25-15, 17-25, 15-5.
But after the win, Myla played the role of doting sister.
Marites, who scored six points and played in all five sets, said her sister and two-time PVL Conference MVP has always been her idol.
"I always look up to her kasi magaling talaga siya tapos sobrang bait niya as a sister. Tapos lagi niya po akong ina-advice and yung mga talagang words of wisdom niya shine-share niya sa akin,” the 21-year-old said.
“I’m so proud of her and sobrang exciting yung game kasi first time talaga namin naglaro na magkalaban.”
The sisters, who hail from Tarlac, mostly meet only in their house during weekends, but Myla always makes it a point to offer pieces of advice.
Anong gagawin ko?’" the Pocari Sweat star said.
