    Myla Pablo bucks back pain, leads Pocari past Petro Gazz in PVL thriller

    Despite an aching back Pablo delivers 22 points

    MALOLOS, Bulacan — Pocari Sweat survived a gritty stand by Petro Gazz, 25-20, 29-31, 25-15, 17-25, 15-5, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Wednesday at Malolos Sports and Convention Center here.

    Myla Pablo, who is still recovering from a back injury, delivered the goods with 22 points as the the Lady Warriors bounced back from a four-set loss to Ateneo to join Tacloban at 1-1 (win-loss).

    “Siguro nag-mature na sila pagdating sa fifth set dahil alam ko namang kayang-kaya nila kaso breaks of the game,” said Pocari Sweat coach Jasper Jimenez.

    Pocari Sweat cruised to an early 9-1 lead in the fifth set before reaching match point at 14-3. Two errors from the Lady Warriors gave the Angels a slim chance before May Ann Pantino ended the match with a strong attack.

    Jeanette Panaga also had 11 points for Pocari Sweat while Dell Palomata added 10 markers.

    Jonah Sabete led the way with 17 points as Petro Gazz slid to 1-2.
