ORGANIZERS of the Shakey’s V-League are planning to move its games on weekends by the second conference in order to air more live games on GMANews TV.
Sports Vision president Ricky Palou said the planned move is an answer to the growing clamor of fans to have more games shown live on television.
For the coming Season 12 Open Conference, GMANews TV will air the games on a delayed basis from Monday to Thursday and Saturdays at 1 p.m.
The first game of Sunday’s featured tripleheader on the other hand, is the only live match to be aired.
At the moment, ABS-CBN Sports airs all of the UAAP women’s volleyball matches live on Sports and Action Channel 23, while Sports 5 and Solar Sports show most of the Philippine Super Liga games also live.
But owing to the growing popularity of the sport, Palou believes it is high time for Shakey’s V-League to air more games live, saying Sports Vision is already in discussions with GMA management about the live broadcast of the matches in the second conference.
“We are still discussing with them na it’s about time that they cover the games live because the public has been clamoring for it,” Palou said.
“What they assured us is that in the second conference, they want to cover live games Saturdays and Sundays. So what we plan to do starting the second conference is to have the games of the Shakey’s V-League on Saturdays and Sundays.
“There will be three games per day and the first two games will be covered live and the third game on a delayed basis but on the same day,” added Palou.
The Open Conference begins with a triple header on Easter Sunday pitting Fourbees against Cagayan Valley at 12:45 p.m., Coast Guard versus Navy at 2:45 p.m. and Baguio opposite PLDT Home Ultera at 4:45 p.m.
