MICHELE Gumabao is gearing up for a return to volleyball after earning two special awards and wound up in the top 15 of Miss Globe 2018 on Sunday in Tirana, Albania.
Gumabao was awarded Miss Dream Girl and Miss Social Media, topping the online vote with 30.22% of total votes.
China’s Yu Yuzhou was crowned Miss Globe 2018.
"Going home to my country with this huge smile on my face! I've learned a lot being here for 2 weeks! Ive always known that in life there are wins and there are losses, but God knows what's best for us I trust in Him to take me further,” posted Gumabao on Instagram after the coronation night.
“I gave my best and I know it was good enough because I had the whole Philippines believing in me! At the end of the day, it is what it is PH - BLUE FOR PEACE.”
Gumabao is expected to rejoin her club Creamline in the second round of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, although the exact date is uncertain. Creamline opens the second round against Ateneo on Sunday next week at Batangas City Coliseum.
“I'm coming home!!! Volleyball naman ang labanan,” Gumabao added.
The Cool Smashers lead the league with a 6-1 win-loss record after the first round even without Gumabao.
