ANTIPOLO CITY — Creamline star Michele Gumabao stressed that their 11-game winning streak won’t mean a thing if they lose to Petro Gazz in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference Finals.

The Cool Smashers are marching into their third straight finals appearance with 11-game winning streak after sweeping Pacifictown-Army, 25-12, 25-18, 25-13, on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Center.

“Kinalimutan na namin ang 11 wins na yun. The team right now, nobody’s thinking about the winning streak, nobody’s thinking about the past,” said Gumabao, who scored eight points in Game 2 of the semifinals. “We’re just really focusing in the Finals. Everybody’s preparing for the Finals.”

Gumabao is putting premium on their team chemistry as the core bannered by local stars Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Risa Sato, Jema Galanza, Mel Gohing and third-time import Kuttika Kaewpin already won back-to-back Finals together beating the PayMaya in the reinforced conference and Ateneo-Motolite in the Open Conference.

“Every finals, actually, iba-iba ang kalaban namin and it's good kasi alam namin na we are consistent as a team, consistent in our teamwork, in our preparation and in our practices,” Gumabao said. “Pagdating sa finals, karamihan sa amin may experience na, playing in the finals and for the championship, almost everyone.”

The former De La Salle star added that newcomer Venezuelan Ale Blanco is also clicking with their core.

“I'm just happy that our imports, especially si (Aleoscar Blanco), who is the new one this year, she's also a veteran and she's composed,” she said. “So, that really contributes kung paano kami sa loob ng court, hindi nara-rattle, hindi kinakabahan.”

As they anticipate an epic Finals series between Creamline and PetroGazz, Gumabao prays for the health of all players from both teams as the competition intensifies in the Finals.

“The most important thing is no injuries especially for everyone. Ngayon, habang nagmamature na tayo, kailangan alagaan ang katawan,” Gumabao said.
