SHERWIN Meneses isn’t worried in the slightest, with Creamline coming off its first two-game skid in the preliminary round of a PVL tournament in eight years.

The Cool Smashers were dealt a double whammy in the 2025 PVL on Tour when they got swept by Cignal in San Juan and outlasted by ZUS Coffee in five sets in Passi City.

The slump ended through a four-set victory over Chery Tiggo to stay in the hunt for an outright quarterfinals spot in Pool B.

Had that match gone the other way, it would’ve been Creamline’s first three-game losing streak in its eight-year franchise history.

Moving forward, neither one of those losses matters now for Meneses who celebrated his 43rd birthday in Iloilo with the rest of the team.

“Napaka-importante [ng panalo ngayon] kasi nga yung standings, dikit-dikit. Hindi naman sa’min importante kung ‘yung two games namin is natalo. Ang importante, natuto kami kung bakit kami natatalo,” Meneses said.

Creamline in a slump?

But what’s been causing Creamline’s rare dip in form in the preseason tournament as of late?

For Meneses, it’s simple fundamental mistakes that have plagued the 10-time champions.

“Sa tingin ko yung lapses talaga last time, yung napaka-careless ng mga galaw namin,” Meneses said.

“Mga basic errors, nag-eerror kami. Sa ngayon, mataas yung pinerform ng team at naging maganda yung panalo dahil yung composure nandyan.”

With Chery Tiggo versus ZUS Coffee still to come in Pool B, Creamline no longer has control of whether it will secure an outright playoff spot or be relegated to the knockout round.

As such, for the PVL’s winningest coach, “buti nanalo kami ngayon.”
