MELA Tunay will be back in uniform but will stay on the sidelines to cheer on the Tigresses when they take on the Lady Chiefs on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the V-League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
“I’ll be attending the game on Sunday in uniform,” said Tunay, who broke her nose in a collision with teammate Pam Lastimosa during an elimination-round match against College of St. Benilde.
She underwent surgery on August 4 and after having difficulty in breathing and sleeping in the first few days after the operation, Tunay told Spin.ph she is now feeling much better.
“Feeling better naman,” she said. “One week siyang may nose packing after surgery, ’yun ’yung talagang ’di ako makahinga ng ayos, ’di makatulog and laging may migraine.”
“Pero last Friday or Saturday na niremove siya, sobrang laki ng relief,” she added.
The charming UST spiker will be back in training on Monday but only light workouts are allowed to avoid bleeding as per doctors’ advice.
“I’ll be doing light workout na by Monday,” said Tunay. “’Di kasi pwede biglain, medyo masakit pa siya and iniiwasan magbleed. So light workout muna. Less effort.”
“Then little by little magpo-progress siguro ’yung program for my recovery pero definitely ’di pa pwede makipaghampasan.”
“Pero mga after two weeks pa ata ako pwede magbola pero not that extensive pa daw. Depends upon the response of the recovery process mismo. Pag wala nang masakit or mabigat maybe pwede na.”
