SAVI Davison is through to her first volleyball final in over half a decade since her college days at the New Mexico State University in Division I of the US NCAA.
But there’s a slim chance that the 2025 PVL on Tour finals might be one of the Fil-Canadian winger's last - for now, at the very least.

Davison, a biochemistry graduate with a minor in human biology, once shared to SPIN.ph how putting her medical school dreams aside ultimately paved the way for her to go to the Philippines and play in the PVL.

She even made it clear that she mainly sees herself committing long-term to either staying in the pros or entering the medical field, with nothing set in stone for now.
“I wouldn't call it (playing pro in the Philippines) a sacrifice. I would do it again probably, but it was definitely hard,” Davison said back in March.
“Regardless of where it (future) might be, I just want to stay educated, successful, and happy. Whether that's volleyball, whether that's back (studying in the U.S.), I'm just going to go where the wind takes me, wherever I feel good.”
Five months later, shortly after her 34-piece against Creamline to send the High Speed Hitters to a breakthrough championship round, the super scorer caught up with SPIN.ph and revealed a decisive development on her future that is set to unravel within the next year.
Davison confirmed that she’ll be testing her luck by possibly pursuing her studies in the medical field in 2026 — meaning, she could potentially step away, for a while, from the PVL.

But even in the event she gets accepted, the decision to end or extend her pro career in the Philippines is one Davison will have to take time to think through.
“Let's say I'll be applying in the next year. If I get accepted or not, I think it depends on where my heart wants to be,” she shared.
“I think for me, it's more so just listing off something that I think that I can do, and if I get accepted, great. If I'm not ready for it, great. If I get accepted and I want to go, like I said, great.
“Wherever my head's at that moment, I'm sure God will guide me, my parents, and friends as well.”
‘Risk it than regret it’
Carrying her Filipino mother’s words to heart, Davison’s time in the Philippines has been special to say the least.

And it will be those same words on taking risks than dealing with regrets that will guide her in making a pivotal career decision sooner than later.
“It's been a better experience than I hoped for. This was a big move and it was a huge risk, but my mom always used to tell me, she used to say, I'd rather you risk it than regret it because you can always come back home,” she said.
“Luckily, I found a home here, especially where she grew up or close to where she grew up. All my family here, it made this more [special]. I want to stay my home away from home, but I feel it’s more than that at this point.”
