WHEN Chery Tiggo officially hit the brakes on its PVL journey, the news hit its players hard, but none more than team captain Aby Maraño, who once again found herself at the center of an all-too-familiar heartbreak.
Just two years removed from F2 Logistics’ sudden exit in 2023, Maraño is reliving the same painful cycle with a team she served, led, and grew with since getting a new lease on life in her career from the Crossovers.

On Tuesday, the veteran middle blocker broke her silence by sharing a reel of her best moments as a Crossover along with a heartfelt message that laid bare her grief and gratitude.

“I still can’t find the right words for the pain sitting in my chest,” she wrote.

“For two years, I lived and breathed this team. I walked into the court every day surrounded not just by teammates, but by a family I never knew I would find. It breaks my heart to know that our journey together has come to an end.”
Much like her F2 experience, Maraño shared that the abruptness was what hurt the most and one she's still struggling to come to terms with.
“I don’t want to leave any of you — your voices, your laughter, your encouragement, your fire during every rally. These are the moments that shaped me, strengthened me, and stayed with me far beyond the sport.”
Where to, next?
With Chery Tiggo’s disbandment leaving the entire roster in free agency, Maraño’s next move remains uncertain. But even in heartbreak, she echoed the optimism and resilience that have defined her veteran career.

“I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this: when the door closes, the veranda opens,” she said.
“And no matter where we all go next, a part of my heart will always remain on that court with all of you.”
