MADDIE Madayag etched her name into the PVL history books with a herculean 10-block game in Choco Mucho’s 20-25, 22-25, 26-24, 19-25 loss to ZUS Coffee on Saturday in Candon City.
The 5-foot-11 middle blocker matched the single-game mark first set by Riri Meneses for Petro Gazz in their 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 win over Perlas Spikers in the 2021 Open Conference.

Madayag now moves to solo first in the best blocker race of the 2025 Reinforced Conference with two games left in the preliminary round, averaging 1.19 blocks per set (25 total).
Despite playing the middle, she is also Choco Mucho’s leading local scorer with 57 points (9.5 per game), just six behind American import Marlee Smith.

However, this isn’t Madayag’s first historic showing at the net.
Her UAAP record still stands untouched — an 11-block eruption back in Season 81 where she towed Ateneo past past University of Santo Tomas, 19-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-22, 15-11.
The previous UAAP single-game record of nine blocks, set by La Salle’s Celine Hernandez, had held for 11 years before her breakout game.
Passing of the torch?
That Choco Mucho-ZUS Coffee game saw 33 combined blocks put up — 18 from Madayag & Co..

While she owned the limelight with 10, the Thunderbelles' rookie middle Riza Nogales wasn’t far behind, posting a career-best seven blocks to highlight her 11-point outing.
That stands as the highest single-game blocking output by a PVL rookie to date.
At six feet tall and just 22 years old, Nogales is shaping up as a Madayag-in-the-making — both having battled through major injuries before returning stronger than ever.
