SISI Rondina has long ruled the numbers game with Choco Mucho in the PVL.
But when the results — and numbers — fall flat for the Flying Titans, the former league MVP had a rather pragmatic approach to figure out how to turn her shaky performances around.
When Choco Mucho lost four straight playoff games since its 10-game win run, even Rondina herself felt discouraged as more questions than answers emerged.

That’s why the 5-foot-6 high-flyer took matters into her own hands.
Throughout the playoffs, Rondina shared how she’d initiate late night talks with oft-understated members of the team’s coaching staff — their statisticians whom she did not name.
Even as she was dishing out 21 points in their last five playoff matches, she knew how a firm understanding of the numbers can help her address areas of her game that require fine-tuning.
“Lagi ko kasi kausap ‘yung statistician namin kahit madaling araw,” Rondina shared.
“Kinakausap ko siya kung ano naging weakness ko, kung ano ‘yung kaya ko pang gawin na nakikita niya. Sobrang laking tulong niya sa’kin kasi bukod sa bantay-sarado ako, binibigyan niya ako ng options.
“Lagi ko siyang kausap and sobrang grateful ako na nasa team namin siya and kay coach Dante [Alinsunurin].”
The best part of it all? Rondina was able to reap the fruits of her extra work, as Choco Mucho zeroed in on a third PVL podium finish with a 25-18, 25-22, 27-29, 25-19 takedown of Akari.
“Nakaka-miss ‘yung ganitong feeling kasi simula nung semis, hindi kami nakatikim ng ganitong panalo. May nawala, pero nag-step up ‘yung iba,” Rondina said.
“As a captain naman, sinabi ko lang din talaga sa mga kasama ko na kaya nating agawin ‘yun, magtrabaho lang kami. Huwag lang kaming titigil, isipin namin kung ano ‘yung mga nangyari sa team namin.”
