LORENE Toring won’t have to wait any longer, as she’s all set to make her pro debut for Farm Fresh in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The Foxies shared the good news to ring in the new year, as they took a key piece off their injury list, which still has the likes of Rachel Daquis, Jolina dela Cruz, and Pia Ildefonso.

Although already greenlit by team doctors, Toring is in no rush for a definite date back on the court and instead opted to take small steps forward. Hence, a potential Jan. 18 debut against Nxled to kick off 2025 PVL action remains uncertain for now.

“Hindi [ako] biglaan na lalaro. Dapat paunti-unti. Pero at least, sa wakas, pwede na. Kaya patuloy lang sa dasal at sa pakundisyon and may the new year be kinder to me and my teammates,” Toring said.

This time last year, Toring was supposed to lead the Adamson Lady Falcons as team captain ahead of her final season of UAAP eligibility in Season 86 with hopes of replicating a historic podium finish from the year before.

Fate had other plans, however, as the veteran middle blocker suffered an ACL injury in one of Adamson’s first training sessions of 2024, forcing an abrupt end to her collegiate career.

Roughly a month since her injury and eventual operation, Toring’s name would be listed in Farm Fresh’s 19-woman roster for the 2024 All-Filipino Conference despite her ongoing recovery at the time.

Such a questionable move at first turned out to be an ingenious one, as Toring dodged the need to undergo drafting by virtue of being listed in that 2024 roster even without seeing a single minute of action all year long — one which didn’t apply to another Farm Fresh prospect in now-deputy coach Alohi Robins-Hardy.

Now that the long wait will soon be over, it’s excitement ahead of nervousness for Toring, as she’ll make her long-awaited first outing in the pros alongside a quartet of fellow ex-Lady Falcons in captain Louie Romero, Trisha Tubu, Ckyle Tagsip, and Cae Lazo.

“Mas excited ako maglaro ulit kaysa takot. Siyempre ‘yung takot, hindi mo maiaalis ‘yan sa mga tulad ko na galing injury, pero nangingibabaw ‘yung excitement na mailaro ko na ‘yung pinaghirapan kong recovery with our PTs pati ‘yung makatulong sa team,” said Toring.
