DASMARINAS, Cavite — For the most part, Philippine volleyball coaches tend to be more calm and soft-spoken in terms of how they behave from the sidelines and when speaking away from games.
That isn’t quite the case with Farm Fresh head coach Alessandro Lodi.
Lodi, 46, has been a coach as animated as can be during his first six matches in the 2025 PVL on Tour.

From sheer joy and euphoria to raw anger and frustration, it isn’t too hard to see through the frank and forthright Italian mentor.
And that’s exactly how he wants it to be, even if some might see him as an ‘everyday freak.’
“Everyone on the outside thinks ‘that guy is just crazy,’ but my players, you see that they are untouched by that because they see me every day. In practice, I'm worse than that,” Lodi said.
“I am not a game-day freak, no. I am an everyday freak. Emotions, yeah, I don't know. I kind of steer them depending on what we need but sometimes, we need to be more calm and very collected.”
He made it clear, however, that he isn’t just one to ramble when his players make mistakes.

Whatever kind of performance he sees on the court, his players already expect nothing short of an expressive and unfiltered reaction.
“I am not just like that when things don't go my way. People know that I'm going to say stuff and point out things that are not working well, even when things do go our way,” Lodi said.
“Ultimately, you have to be consistent. People have to know you and how you're operating and what you're trying to achieve and in what way.
“If people feel just like disrespected, bullied, that you're screaming because you're just out of control and a freaking drunk lunatic, that's not good. But if people know exactly why and what, and they do know that, then no one has a problem.”
