FAR Eastern University and Adamson duke it out for one last time to dispute the last Finals berth in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday.
The two teams battle it out at 4 p.m., with the winner earning the right to face defending champion National University in the best-of-three title series.
The Lady Tamaraws made the winner-take-all possible following a 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 win over the Lady Falcons on Tuesday that leveled the best-of-three semifinals at one game apiece.
FEU coach Shaq delos Santos hopes the Lady Tamaraws will carry with them the momentum of the morale-boosting win as they gun for their first ever Finals appearance in the country’s premier commercial volleyball league for women.
“Sana magtuluy-tuloy na. First time namin sa Finals if ever” said De Los Santos.
FEU will again rely on Bernadette Pons and guest players Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga, who are both part of the Philippine Army team seeing action in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) which kicks off on Friday.
Delos Santos, who’s also calling the shot for Petron in the PSL, assured there will be no conflict of schedule as far as his two guest players are concerned.
"Wala pa naman silang game sa Friday. Napag-usapan naman na namin ang schedule, and hopefully 'wag mag-conflict (ang schedule)," said the FEU mentor.
Meanwhile, Adamson gets another shot at a Finals berth as it aims to make it back to the title series following the Lady Falcons’ runner-up finish behind Ateneo in 2011.
Bhebs Pineda, Thai reinforcement Pacharee Sangmuang, and guest player Pau Soriano are expected to be at the forefront of Adamson’s bid in the do-or-die encounter.
National University clinched the first Finals berth Tuesday with a sweep of University of Santo Tomas in their own best-of-three semis.
Game One of the Finals kick off on May 18.
