LA Salle stunned San Beda, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18, on Sunday for its first win after four losses in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the Arena in San Juan City.
Cris Dumago had 15 kills and wound up with a game-high 16 points including nine excellent receptions as the Green Spikers ended the Red Spikers’ two-game winning streak.
Geraint Bacon and Kieffer Reyes delivered nine hits apiece, while John David Delos Reyes added seven markers.
The Green Spikers rose to the solo eight place with a 1-4 win-loss record, still in the hunt for a semifinal spot.
La Salle takes on unbeaten National University (4-0) on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The Red Spikers had three players in double figures, led by Jomaru Amagan, who had 14 points including 12 receptions and nine digs. Skipper Angelo Michael scored 11 and Jeffrey Losa added 10.
San Beda had the edge in the spiking department, 44-40, differential but made 28 errors as it slid to seventh place with a 2-3 card.
San Beda seeks to bounce back against unscathed league leader University of Santo Tomas (5-0) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
