DEFENDING champion Creamline finished the elimination round with nine straight wins as it routed winless BaliPure, 25-19 25-15, 25-18, on Saturday in the PVL Reinforced Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin led the Cool Smashers with 14 points, all coming from attacks with 66.7 percent efficiency.
Alyssa Valdez, celebrating her 26th birthday, chipped in with nine points including seven digs.
Setter Jia Morado was rested and backup playmaker Kyle Negrito came up with 17 excellent sets and fired five aces as Creamline took down BaliPure in just 72 minutes.
The defending champions finished with a 9-1 win-loss record, with a shot at the top spot as PetroGazz (8-1) takes on Motolite (3-6).
Imports Danijela Dzakovic and Alexandra Vajdova put up 11 points each as BaliPure had another error-filled game with 23 miscues, ending the tournament without a win in 10 matches.
“We’re very happy with the wins but I guess it’s very obvious, how our game fluctuated siguro lalo na dito sa latter part,” said Valdez.
“It goes to show na siguro ang dami pa naming dapat gawin sa practices and the tournament is really short and very intense ang schedule.”
