FORMER Petro Gazz head coach Koji Tsuzurabara broke his silence on his shock exit from the champion team.

In an exclusive chat with SPIN.ph, the Japanese coach gave an outright explanation on why he decided to leave the Angels midway through the 2025 PVL on Tour preseason tournament.

“I have no confidence in the PGA [Petro Gazz Angels]. That's why I have resigned from the team,” Tsuzurabara said.

Tsuzurabara cited a repeat of a particular ‘mistake’ from the team that he said proved to be the last straw before tendering his resignation.

“I am disappointed in the PGA. They made the same mistake twice,” he said. “The first time was October 31, 2024, and the second time was July 17.”

Out of respect for the team, he politely declined to expound on the events that transpired on those two dates.

“The PGA should not hire foreign coaches because they will make the same mistake […] That's my advice to the PGA,” he added.

PVL comeback soon?

While there are no coaching openings in the league, the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference champion coach still kept his doors open should another team come calling.

“My agent is currently looking for another team. If another PVL team needs me, I will sign with them,” Tsuzurabara said.
