NO one’s had quite the career turnaround in recent memory than Kianna Dy.
The PLDT spiker waited 559 days to fully recover from an undisclosed right knee injury she obtained in her final few months with defunct F2 Logistics back in 2023.

Within that period emerged a 338-day wait for the High Speed Hitters before Dy could render her services for hew new PVL team on the court in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Once that waiting game came to an end, KKD had her sights set on ending another long wait.
In a span of two weeks, PLDT won its first two PVL titles in the preseason and Invitational tournaments, also marking Dy’s first pair of league wins as a pro.
What both of those title runs had in common was how it ended — Dy scoring championship points through championship-clinching blocks.
KKD repulsed Chery Tiggo rookie Ren Penafiel’s attack in Set 5 of the PVL on Tour final to win the title and did the same two weeks later to Kobe Shinwa’s Nagisa Komatsuda for the golden double.

As Dy put it best after becoming a two-time PVL champion, patience pays off.
“The team has been through so much almosts and it just feels so good to finally get two championships,” Dy said.
“Being sidelined last year, it was hard for me seeing my teammates very heartbroken and wala akong magawa because I was outside.
“Now, I’m super confident with this team. Everyone improved, everyone’s improving and we’re finally complete.”
Start of something new
Two days since her second title win, Dy shared a candid reflection of an emotional two-year rollercoaster ride that has now ended with a touch of gold.

“Exactly two years ago, I was wearing a knee brace, not knowing when I’d be able to play again. Months went by, and people kept asking when I would return but honestly, I had no answer and wished I knew too,” KKD wrote.
“Being injured was one of, if not, the hardest challenge I’ve faced as an athlete. Sitting on the sidelines and not being able to help the team was one of the worst feelings ever.
“There were days when I’d get a glimpse of hope to finally join court training, only to wake up the next day with a swollen knee. It was tough.”

As she turns the page on a trying past, Dy comes out hungrier, healthier and readier to win it all again now that she’s back at her best.
“I knew I had to keep going because PLDT, my teammates, family and all our supporters were rooting and waiting for me,” said KKD.
“Here we are, finally with two championships. What a journey it has been and I’ve never been hungrier to go for more.”
